Pet Boarding Requirements
For the protection of all our patients, all pets coming to stay with us are required to have the following:
-
For dogs:
-
Rabies (1-year or 3-year)
-
DHPP
-
Bordetella (every 6 months)
-
Heartworm test (every 12 months)
-
Fecal test (every 6 months)
-
-
For cats:
-
Rabies

FVRCP
-
Fecal (every 6 months)

All boarders must also be free of fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites. If your pet has previously received care elsewhere, we will need official records from a licensed veterinarian of your pet's vaccinations, heartworm test (dogs), and fecal testing. When making a boarding reservation, tell us the name of your previous veterinary care provider and we will be more than happy to request the records for you!
Boarding & Grooming Vaccination Policy Update
Important Policy Change
Effective immediately, any required vaccinations, fecal testing, or heartworm testing that are overdue must be completed at least 14 days prior to your pet's scheduled boarding stay or grooming appointment.
For the safety of all pets in our care, these services cannot be completed during your pet's boarding stay or grooming appointment.
Why This Change?
This policy allows adequate time for vaccines to provide protection and helps ensure that all required preventive health services are completed before pets enter our boarding and grooming programs. By completing these services in advance, we can reduce the risk of preventable disease exposure and maintain the highest standard of care for every pet.
Planning Ahead
We encourage pet owners to review their pet's vaccination and preventive care status well in advance of any boarding or grooming reservation. If your pet is due for vaccinations, fecal testing, or heartworm testing, we recommend scheduling those services at least two to three weeks before your planned appointment.
Our team is happy to assist you with scheduling any needed preventive care services and answering questions about your pet's requirements.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep all pets healthy, safe, and protected. We appreciate the trust you place in our team and look forward to continuing to care for your furry family members.

Why Board Your Pet at a Veterinary Practice?
Boarding your pet at a veterinary practice offers added peace of mind while you’re away. At Butler Creek Animal Hospital, your pet’s health and safety are always our top priorities.
- Medical oversight: All medications are administered by trained veterinary professionals. If your pet needs immediate medical attention, our veterinarians and medical team are onsite to respond quickly.
- Vaccinations handled in-house: If your pet requires updated vaccinations prior to boarding, we can take care of those needs before their stay. When possible, we recommend allowing two weeks between vaccination and boarding.
- Access to veterinary services: Wellness exams or other medical services can be scheduled during your pet’s stay if needed.
- Open communication: Our team is always happy to answer questions about our boarding facilities, policies, and your pet’s individual care plan.
