Dr. Carolyn Bonfield - Associate Veterinarian

Carolyn Bonfield

Dr. Carolyn Bonfield comes to us from Savannah, GA. Dr. Bonfield joined the Butler Creek Animal Hospital team in May 2024 after receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia, class of 2022.

Prior to veterinary school, she received her B.S. in Biology and Theater from Emory University where she earned All-American status as a member of their national championship women’s swim team.

Dr. Bonfield grew up with a love of all animals, big and small. She spent every career day in her elementary years dressed as a veterinarian, including a plastic stethoscope and a stuffed dalmatian. After college graduation she spent a month volunteering at Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre in Hoedspruit, South Africa where she assisted with the rehab and rehabilitation of a variety of large cats and birds, made friends with a honey badger, and slept with an orphaned rhino. Upon her return to Georgia, she worked with Zoo Atlanta as an animal educator and as a veterinary assistant in Marietta before being accepted to UGA.

As a veterinarian, Dr. Bonfield greatly values the relationships she gets to build with her patients and their people. She has special interests in managing diabetes, cardiology, and neurology. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Bonfield enjoys spending time playing disc golf, riding roller coasters, and traveling to zoos with her husband, Jacob King. They currently have one rescue dog together, Ramsey.
