Renee Coley, RVT - Surgical Technician

Renee originally worked for us as a veterinary assistant from 2004- 2008.   During that time she attended Gwinnett Technical College.  Renee graduated in 2009 with a degree in Veterinary Technology.  She then received her license from the State of Georgia and became a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Renee worked from 2009-2016 at a specialty veterinary surgical practice, where she spent most of her time assisting with orthopedic surgery.  In 2016, Renee returned to Butler Creek Animal Hospital as our Surgical Technician.

Renee enjoys reading, watching movies and spending time with her boyfriend, Steven.  She has three fur children; a pug named Dakota, a french bulldog named Rev, and a Shih-Tzu named "Mad-Eye" Moody.

Christina Carlin - Hospital Administrator

Christina’s lifetime love of animals drove her to begin a career in the field of veterinary medicine in 1999. She started with our organization as a Client Care Specialist & Veterinary Assistant and then quickly moved into management. She now acts as the Hospital Administrator for our hospitals.

Christina earned her degree in Business Administration in 2009. She has trained extensively in animal hospital management locally and at national conferences. Christina feels like she has the PERFECT job! She is able to blend her passion for animals with her love of business, management, marketing and human resources.

Christina enjoys spending quality time with her husband Jeff and their two children. She rescued her Labrador, Marshall, from Paulding County Animal Control in 2017 and her French bulldog, Stitch, in 2016.

Amarilis Montlavo-Ortiz- Hospital Administrator

Amarilis came to us with a strong marketing background and has been passionately working with animals in the veterinary field since 2012. She started with our organization as an Administrative Assistant and was then promoted to practice manager due to her ability to excel in office and clinic duties.

Amarilis has attended several courses regarding management, inventory, marketing, and human resources and applies them daily. She has enjoyed being able to learn more about veterinary medicine with the help of her

co-workers because she enjoys seeing people perform at their best.

When she is away from the hospital she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and 3 boys. She loves playing board games and watching movies with her family. She also loves cuddling and smooching on her pets 6 pups and 2 snakes.

Kayla Day - Practice Manager

Kayla started her career with helping animals in 2005. She began working in the kennels and eventually moved into assisting and reception in both day practices and emergency. Even though her passion is in the kennels, she became the administrative assistant for all three of our locations since April of 2014. Starting in October 2016, she became the Practice Manager for our Butler Creek location.

Kayla enjoys any outdoor activities like fishing and dirt track racing with her son, Rylie. She currently has four dogs, Pickles (a German Shepard mix), Lil Girl (a Blue Heeler), Rosie (a Pitbull Boxer mix) and Slinky (a Dachshund). She also has two cats, Nova and Leo, and a turtle, Elsa.

Emma Daniel- Head Technician

Millie Travis- Lead Dog Trainer/ Playcare & Kennel Supervisor

Millie started in the veterinary industry in 2007 as a kennel technician. Ever since her first day she has never quite quenched her thirst for learning. When she mastered the kennels, she moved to reception, then right to treatment to work as a veterinary assistant. Although she still enjoys working with physically unhealthy dogs in treatment, she undoubtedly found her passion in working with the mentally unhealthy dogs.

Kelsey Strickland- Veterinary Assistant/ Social Media Director

Since she was a little girl, Kelsey’s love of animals was always apparent. She first trained at Butler Creek Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant right after high school in 2005. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kennesaw State University in 2017 she came back to Butler Creek as a veterinary assistant. She also maintains our Facebook/social media pages. Her favorite part of the job is the bond she gets to form with her patients and their owners but also loves working with the exotics – especially the reptiles!

Kelsey lives in Acworth with her fiancé and 4 fur kids; Sheldon her one-eyed orange tabby rescue, Leonard - another orange tabby hand-raised from one day old, Sammie the hound mix, and her recently adopted Doberman, Midna. She loves making art of all kinds – painting, woodburning, and photography, as well as activities like horseback riding and snorkeling.
